Your Guide to No Watering Amaryllis: Get Beautiful Blooms!

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try something new with my plants lately, and I stumbled upon this idea of growing amaryllis without watering them. Sounds crazy, right? But I saw some folks online talking about it, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”

Getting Started

First things first, I picked up a few amaryllis bulbs from the store. They were just regular ones, nothing fancy. Then, instead of potting them in soil like I usually do, I placed each bulb in a clear glass vase. The key here is to make sure the bulbs don’t actually touch the bottom of the vase. You want them kind of suspended in there.

The Waiting Game

Now comes the hard part – waiting. I put the vases in a spot that gets a decent amount of indirect sunlight. And then, I just left them alone. No water, no misting, nothing. It felt so weird not to water them, like I was neglecting them or something.

Signs of Life

After a couple of weeks, I started to see some action. Little green shoots began to emerge from the tops of the bulbs. It was such a relief! I was worried I had messed something up, but there they were, growing all on their own.

Watching Them Grow

Over the next few weeks, the shoots grew taller and taller. Eventually, those gorgeous amaryllis flowers started to bloom. And let me tell you, they were just as beautiful as the ones I’ve grown the regular way. It was amazing to see how they could do all of this without me adding any water.

My Takeaway

  • It’s totally possible to grow amaryllis without watering them.
  • You just need some bulbs, glass vases, and a bit of patience.
  • They might take a little longer to bloom this way, but the flowers are just as stunning.

So, if you’re looking for a low-maintenance way to enjoy these flowers, definitely give this method a try. It’s a fun experiment, and you’ll be surprised by the results. I’m already thinking about what other plants I can try this with!
