Okay, guys, let’s talk about those artificial fall flowers for outdoors. I’ve been wanting to spruce up my front porch for autumn, but real flowers, you know, they just don’t last in the chilly weather. Plus, I’m not exactly known for my green thumb. So I went on this little mission to find some fake flowers that didn’t look, well, totally fake.
First, I hit up a few local stores, the usual suspects. I rummaged through their displays. The selection was okay, but nothing really caught my eye. They all looked a bit too shiny and plastic-y for my taste. I wanted something that could at least pass for real from a distance.

So, I turned to the good old internet. I typed in a few searches, scrolled through a bunch of websites, and read through some reviews. I learned there’s a whole world of artificial flowers out there! It’s kinda crazy. They’ve got everything from sunflowers to mums to these little berry sprigs.
I finally settled on this one online store that had a ton of options. I carefully looked at the pictures and read the product descriptions. I was mainly looking for flowers that were labeled as “UV resistant” or “weatherproof.” I figure, if they can handle the sun and rain, they should be able to handle a little frost, right?
I ended up ordering a mix of things – some orange and yellow mums, a few burgundy sunflowers, and some of those cute little berry branches for a pop of red. I also grabbed a couple of fall-themed garlands to hang around the porch railing.
My Process
-
Gathered my supplies: I already had a couple of planters and some floral foam from a previous project.
-
Prepped the planters: I stuck the floral foam into the planters. This stuff is great for holding the flower stems in place.
-
Arranged the flowers: I started with the bigger flowers, like the mums and sunflowers, and stuck them into the foam. Then I filled in the gaps with the smaller berry branches.
-
Added the garlands: I draped the garlands around the porch railing and secured them with some zip ties.
It actually turned out pretty good! The flowers look surprisingly realistic, and they really brighten up the porch. I’ve had them out there for a few weeks now, and they’ve held up great through some rain and wind. They still look as good as new. I’m pretty stoked about how it all came together. It’s like a little burst of fall color, even though the real leaves haven’t even started to change yet. If you’re thinking about doing something similar, I say go for it! Just make sure you get flowers that are meant for outdoor use, and you should be golden.
Overall, it was a pretty easy and fun project. And the best part is, I won’t have to worry about watering them or replacing them anytime soon. These babies should last me all season long, maybe even longer!
