Okay, so I wanted to make a scissor lift for my car. It seemed like a cool project, and honestly, who doesn’t want to lift their car like a boss?
First, I gathered some scrap metal. I’m talking old bed frames, some leftover steel pipes – basically anything I could find that seemed sturdy enough. My garage looked like a junkyard for a while there.

The Build
- I started by cutting the metal into the basic scissor shapes. This took some time, and I definitely messed up a few pieces. Angle grinders are no joke!
- Then, I welded the pieces together. My welding skills are… let’s just say “improving.” Some of the welds were pretty ugly, but they seemed strong enough. I hoped!
- Next was the crucial part, which I added was the hydraulic jack. I got a cheap one from a local store. I bolted it to the base of the scissor mechanism.
- Then I connect the hydraulic jack to the scissor, it took me a while to figure this one out, and let the hydrolic can lift it.
The Test lift
I rolled my car over the contraption, holding my breath. I started pumping the jack, and… it moved! Slowly but surely, the car started to lift. Success! But I kept a real eye, if it will drop the car.
So, I successfully created the scissor lift car! I am so proud of this project and glad that I am able to share with you all.
