Right, let’s talk about this Flowerpot lamp journey. It’s been on my mind for ages, one of those design pieces you see around and it just sort of… sticks. I’m not one for impulse buys, especially with stuff for the house. I like to mull things over, sometimes for years. This was one of them.

The Hunt and The Headache

So, after seeing it pop up here and there, in magazines, some cool-looking cafes, I finally decided, okay, it’s time. But then came the hard part. Which one? Seriously, I didn’t expect to spend so much brainpower on a lamp. There’s the VP3, the VP9, different sizes, and then the colors. Oh, the colors. I went back and forth. Do I get something bright and poppy, make a statement? Or something more chill that just blends in? I even sketched out my living room a few times, trying to picture different colors. Honestly, it felt like a bigger deal than choosing a new sofa at one point. I almost caved and bought a cheap knock-off I saw online, just to scratch the itch, but talked myself out of it. Figured if I’m doing it, I’m doing it right.

Unboxing and the First Look

The day the box arrived, it was a bit like Christmas. I’m always a bit nervous with online orders, especially for things I’ve hyped up in my head. The packaging was pretty solid, thankfully. Pulled it out, and yeah, it looked good. The finish was smoother than I expected, and it had a nice weight to it. Not flimsy, which was a relief. It’s funny, you see pictures, but holding it, feeling the materials, that’s a different story. I spent a good ten minutes just looking at it from different angles before I even thought about plugging it in.

Finding The Perfect Spot – The Real Trial

This is where the real “work” began. I thought I knew exactly where it would go. I was wrong.

  • First, I tried it on the side table next to my armchair. Looked okay, but the light felt a bit too direct for reading there.
  • Then, I moved it to a bookshelf. It got a bit lost among the books, didn’t quite stand out.
  • My desk was another option. Better, but still not quite hitting the mark. I was starting to get a bit frustrated, thinking maybe I’d made a mistake with the size or something.

Finally, I cleared a spot on this low console table I have in the hallway. And bam. That was it. It just clicked. The height was right, it created this nice warm welcome glow when you walk in, and it wasn’t competing with anything else. It took a few days of shuffling things around the house, but we got there. You really gotta live with these things for a bit, move ’em, see how the light changes during the day.

Living With It Now

So, it’s been there for a few weeks. It’s definitely more than just a light source. It’s changed the whole vibe of that little corner. I find myself just glancing at it sometimes. It’s a simple design, but it’s got character. No regrets on taking the plunge, even with the initial color drama and the musical chairs finding its spot. It’s funny how a small object can make such a difference. It’s not just a lamp, it’s a little piece of… well, something I’d wanted for a long time, and now it’s here, doing its thing. And that feels pretty good, like a small project finally checked off the list.
