Okay, so I’ve been getting into a bit of DIY hair cutting lately – saves money, you know? And I kept hearing about these things called “serrated hair scissors.” Sounded kinda fancy, so I figured I’d give them a shot and see what the fuss was about.
My Little Experiment Begins
First things first, I needed to actually find some of these scissors. I hit up my local beauty supply store, It is a bit of mess, and the scissors are almost always thrown together, so I browsed around for a while, eventually,I found a pair that didn’t look too expensive – perfect for an experiment!

Getting Down to Business
I watched a few quick YouTube * I grabbed a section of my hair (after washing and drying it, of course – gotta do it right!). I held the section taut between my fingers, just like I saw in the videos.
- First try: I went a little too cautious. Barely snipped anything.
- Second try: I got a bit bolder. I opened the scissors, placed them where I wanted to cut, and closed them.
- The Result, It is not bad.
My Verdict?
Honestly, I was pretty surprised! The serrated scissors definitely gave my hair a more textured, layered look compared to my regular scissors. It wasn’t a drastic change, but it was enough to make a difference.
So, are serrated hair scissors worth it? I’d say yeah, especially if you’re like me and just want to add a little something to your hair without going to a salon.
