Well, let me tell ya ’bout waterin’ stuff, ya know, for the plants and such. Folks always fussin’ ’bout how to do it right, but it ain’t rocket science, I tell ya.
First off, if you got a whole bunch of plants outside, like a big garden, you ain’t gonna wanna mess with them little cans. Get yourself a hose, one of them soaker hoses is real good. Just lay it out there and it drips the water right where it needs to go, no fuss, no muss. Don’t go wastin’ water, now, that’s just plain silly. Them roots need the drinkin’, not the air.

- Big garden? Use a hose!
- Little bit of plants? Can is fine.
Now, if you only got a few plants, a can is just dandy. You can control where the water goes, make sure each plant gets its fair share. I like them cans with the long spout, makes it easier to aim, ya know? Less splashin’ around, less messin’ up my porch. And get a good one, not some flimsy thing that cracks after a season. You want something that’ll last, somethin’ you can count on, like a good ol’ cast iron skillet.
Them little houseplants, they need somethin’ special too. Them cans with the free-flow spouts, they’re the ticket. Water goes right into the pot, not all over the place. And don’t be overwaterin’, now. Roots gotta breathe too. I always stick my finger in the dirt, if it’s dry, then I water. If it’s still damp, I leave it be. Plants is like people, they don’t wanna be drowned.
Pickin’ out a can, well, it’s like pickin’ out a good pair of shoes. You gotta think about what you need it for. Big cans for big jobs, little cans for little jobs. And make sure it’s easy to carry, easy to fill, and easy to clean. Nobody wants a heavy, awkward can that’s a pain in the neck to use. And make sure it ain’t gonna leak all over the place. Some of them cheap ones, they just ain’t worth a dime.
And size matters, I tell ya, just like with everything else. If you got a lot of plants, get a big can. If you got just a few, a small one will do. But don’t go gettin’ somethin’ so big you can’t even lift it when it’s full. That’s just plain foolish. You need to find one that you can manage, that isn’t gonna strain your back when you are carryin’ it around your flowers.
Some folks, they get all fancy with their waterin’. They got special gadgets and gizmos, but I tell ya, a good ol’ can is all you really need. Just make sure you get the right kind for the job, and you’ll be fine. And don’t forget to clean it out every now and then. Nobody wants a dirty can, that’s just nasty.
And another thing, don’t be waterin’ your plants in the middle of the day, when the sun’s beatin’ down. That water just evaporates right up and the plants don’t get a good drink. Water ’em in the mornin’ or the evenin’, when it’s cooler. That’s just common sense, but you’d be surprised how many folks don’t know that.
So, there ya have it. Waterin’ ain’t hard, just gotta use your head and get yourself the right tools. A good can, a good hose, and a little bit of common sense, that’s all you need. And remember, don’t drown them roots!

Now, you go on and get yourself a waterin’ tote, and keep them plants happy. They’ll thank you for it, I guarantee ya.
