Want hoya burtoniae flowers? Here is the best way to get them!

Alright, folks, gather ’round, ’cause today I wanna share my little adventure with this cute plant called Hoya burtoniae. You know, the one with those adorable almond-shaped leaves? Yeah, that’s the one. I’ve been growing this little guy for a while now, and I’ve finally gotten it to bloom! It’s been a journey, let me tell ya.

Getting Started

First off, I got myself a cutting from a friend. I made sure to pick a healthy-looking stem with a few leaves and at least one of those little bumps where the leaves pop out – you know, the nodes. Then, with a clean pair of scissors, I snipped that stem right off.

Rooting and Potting

Next up, I popped the cutting into a glass of water, making sure those nodes were submerged. It took a couple of weeks, but eventually, I saw some little white roots starting to sprout. That’s when I knew it was time to plant this baby in some soil. I used a well-draining potting mix, ’cause these plants don’t like to sit in water. I gently placed the cutting in the pot, filled it up with soil, and gave it a good watering.

Finding the Perfect Spot

Now, lighting is key with these guys. They love bright, indirect light. I tried putting mine in a few different spots, but it seemed happiest near an east-facing window. It got plenty of morning sun, but nothing too harsh. I made sure to slowly introduce it to the brighter light over a few weeks so it wouldn’t get shocked.

The Waiting Game

Then came the hard part – waiting. I watered it whenever the soil felt dry to the touch, and I even gave it a little misting now and then to keep the humidity up. I also noticed some tiny little spider mites under the leaves. To manage them, I used an alcohol-soaked cotton swab to remove them. I know you need to spray them, but I forgot the exact method.

Flowers at Last!

And finally, after months of patiently waiting, it happened! I saw these tiny little buds starting to form, and then, boom! The most beautiful little star-shaped flowers you ever did see. They were a gorgeous shade of yellow with a fuzzy-like texture.

So, there you have it, my Hoya burtoniae blooming adventure.

  • It took some time and patience, but it was totally worth it in the end.
  • If you’re thinking about growing one of these beauties, just remember: bright, indirect light, well-draining soil, and a little bit of patience are the keys to success.
  • And hey, if you’ve got any tips or tricks of your own, feel free to share ’em in the comments!

I’m always up for learning something new.

Happy growing!
