Okay, so, you know how it goes when you’ve got a yard. There’s always something that needs doing. And one of my least favorite things was dealing with those pesky blackberry bushes. They’re a nightmare, right? Well, I finally got fed up with getting all scratched up every time I tried to tame those thorny monsters. So, I decided it was time to find some decent gloves.
I started by just checking out what was on the market. I mean, there are a ton of gardening gloves out there, but not all of them are up to the task of battling blackberry thorns. I looked at a bunch of different brands, just like any other person would, to see what people were saying about them.

After digging around a bit, I narrowed down my options. I figured I needed something really strong and durable, you know? Something that those thorns couldn’t easily penetrate. And it would be great if they went up to my elbows, too, ’cause those branches can really reach out and grab you.
My Glove Hunt
- HANDLANDY Gloves: These were the first ones I tried. People were raving about them online, calling them a “game-changer.” Sounded pretty good.
- COOLJOB Thorn Proof Gloves: These also seemed promising. They had “thorn-proof” right in the name, and they were long-sleeved, which I liked.
- Some other brands, too, but those are the two I really tested out.
So, I ordered both the HANDLANDY and the COOLJOB gloves. The HANDLANDY ones were a bit cheaper, I think around 19 bucks, and the COOLJOB ones were a little more, maybe 20. Not a huge difference.
When they arrived, I was eager to put them to the test. I went straight out to my blackberry bushes, geared up in my new gloves, and started pruning. The HANDLANDY gloves did okay, but I could still feel some of the thorns poking through. They weren’t bad, but they weren’t perfect either.
Then I tried the COOLJOB gloves. And let me tell you, these were the real deal. They were super thick and sturdy. I could grab those thorny branches with confidence, and not a single thorn got through. Plus, they were long enough to protect my forearms from scratches. I managed to clear out a huge section of blackberry bushes without getting a single scratch. It was amazing!
I’ve been using the COOLJOB gloves for a few weeks now, and they’re still holding up great. They’re definitely my go-to gloves for dealing with blackberries, and honestly, any other thorny plants in my garden. And they’re machine washable. This is really great!
So, if you’re looking for some serious protection against blackberry thorns, I highly recommend the COOLJOB Thorn Proof Gloves. They’re a little more expensive than some other options, but they’re totally worth it. Trust me, your hands and arms will thank you. I learned it the hard way, but finally, figured this thing out, and I wanted to share it with you guys.
