So, I saw this thing online about stacking scissor lifts, and I was like, “Huh, wonder if that’s as sketchy as it sounds?” My buddy, Mark, he’s always doing these crazy DIY projects, so I figured we could mess around with it in his garage. Safety third, right? (Just kidding… mostly.)
The Setup
First, we got two scissor lifts. One was a bit bigger than the other, which, in hindsight, was probably our first mistake. We cleared out a space in Mark’s garage, making sure there weren’t any stray skateboards or power tools we could trip over. We’re dumb, not suicidal.

- Lift 1: The bigger, slightly older model.
- Lift 2: The smaller, newer one.
We spent a good twenty minutes just looking at them, trying to figure out the “best” way to stack them. It was like a really boring, potentially dangerous game of Tetris.
The Stacking (and the Wobbling)
We decided to put the bigger lift on the bottom, figuring it could handle the weight better. Makes sense, right? We slowly raised the bigger one, then carefully maneuvered the smaller one on top. It was… precarious. Even just getting it up there, we both knew this was probably a terrible idea.
Once we got the second lift on, we started raising it. And that’s when the wobbling started. It wasn’t a gentle sway, it was more like a “we’re about to die” kind of wobble. Mark’s eyes went wide, and I’m pretty sure I let out a noise that only dogs could hear.
The Descent (and the Lesson Learned)
We immediately stopped raising the lift. There was this awful creaking sound, and the whole thing felt like it was going to topple over. We very, very slowly lowered both lifts, practically holding our breath the entire time.
Once we were back on solid ground, we just looked at each other. No words were needed. We both knew we’d dodged a bullet (or, you know, a crushed-by-a-scissor-lift situation).
Conclusion: Don’t Do It.
Yeah, stacking scissor lifts? Super bad idea. Don’t do it. Seriously. It’s not worth it. We were incredibly lucky, and I’m pretty sure we both aged about five years in those few minutes. It’s way too unstable, and you’re just asking for trouble. My take away is, if somethings sound too stupid to do, maybe just do not try it, bro.
