Alright, let’s talk about this small flowerpot project I did. It was a bit of a mess, but I think it turned out okay in the end. So, I started with this idea to make a cute little flowerpot for my desk. I’d seen some cool ones online and figured, “Hey, I can do that!”
Getting the Stuff
First thing I did was gather all the materials. I went to the local craft store and grabbed some clay, paint, and a few other bits and pieces I thought I might need. I also found an old yogurt cup that I thought could be a good mold for the pot.

Making the Pot
Next, I started shaping the clay. This was way harder than I expected. The clay was all sticky and didn’t want to hold its shape. I ended up using the yogurt cup as a form and pressed the clay around it. It was a bit lumpy, but I figured it would do.
- Tried to smooth it out with my fingers, but it was still pretty rough.
- Let it dry overnight. It felt pretty solid in the morning.
- Peeled off the yogurt cup. It mostly came off clean, which was a relief.
Painting Time
Now for the fun part – painting! I wanted to make it look like a little animal, so I started with a base coat of white paint. Then I added some pink for the cheeks and black for the eyes and mouth. It was starting to look pretty cute, if I do say so myself.
- Waited for the paint to dry. This took a while because I put it on pretty thick.
- Added a few more details, like some little paws and a tail.
- Realized I forgot to make a hole in the bottom for drainage. Oops.
Finishing Touches
I grabbed a drill and carefully made a hole in the bottom of the pot. Then I added some soil and a small succulent I picked up from the store. And there you have it, my homemade small flowerpot!
It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s a nice little addition to my desk, and it makes me smile every time I look at it. Plus, it was a fun little project to do on a weekend. Maybe I’ll try making another one soon, but this time I’ll try to make it a bit less lumpy.
