Today, I wanna talk about something I’ve been messing around with in the kitchen lately – herb scissors. Yeah, you heard that right, scissors for your herbs. Sounds kinda fancy, but trust me, it’s a game-changer.
So, here’s the deal. I used to chop herbs the old-fashioned way, with a knife and a cutting board. It was fine, but it took forever, and I always ended up with uneven pieces. Plus, it was a pain to clean up. Then, I stumbled upon these herb scissors online, and I thought, “Why not give ’em a shot?”

I ordered a pair from a brand called Jenaluca, I think. They have, like, five blades on them, which seemed a bit much at first, but hey, I was willing to try anything. First time using them, I snipped some fresh cilantro for my tacos. It took me, like, seconds to get a nice, even chop. I was surprised, to be honest. I usually chop for some minutes to get this effect. Also, it is so easy to get an even chop with this thing, unlike before.
Then I tried cutting other things such as shredded lettuce, that is also a piece of cake for this herb scissors!
I kept experimenting. Parsley, basil, chives – you name it, I snipped it. These scissors handled everything like a champ. I even used them to trim the leaves off some strawberries, and it worked like a charm.
Here’s what I found out:
- Saves time: These herb scissors cut down my prep time big time. It just saves me some precious time for my lunch making and food preparation.
- Even cuts: No more uneven herb pieces. Everything comes out looking professional, just like those cooking shows.
- Easy cleanup: Most of these scissors come with a little cover that doubles as a cleaning tool. Just slide it through the blades, and you’re good to go. Or throw them in the dishwasher. Even though I still prefer hand washing it.
Now, these aren’t your regular kitchen shears. Those are great for opening packages or cutting through bone – which is kind of gross if you ask me. Herb scissors are specifically designed for, well, herbs. They’re sharper and more precise. I saw that there are also some kitchen shears, they claim that they can cut through bone, and bottle, and have some bonus features, but I haven’t tried those. I only have this one. This is enough for me now.
I’m not saying you need to run out and buy herb scissors right this second. But if you’re like me and you’re always looking for ways to make cooking easier and more fun, they’re worth checking out. They’ve definitely made my life in the kitchen a little bit simpler. So much time saved!
That’s my little experiment with herb scissors. Hope you found it helpful. If you decide to try them out, let me know what you think. I’d love to hear about your experiences!
