Alright, let’s talk about this here projector clock thingy with the outside temperature. You know, the one that’s supposed to tell you if you need a coat or not before you even step outside. Sounds fancy, right? Well, sometimes it acts up, just like my old mule, stubborn as can be.
First off, if that outside temperature ain’t showin’ up on your clock, don’t go throwin’ it out the window just yet. It probably just lost its connection, like when your phone loses signal in the middle of nowhere. Happens all the time.

What I do is, I take out the batteries from both the clock and that little outside thingy, the transmitter they call it. Leave ‘em out for a good 15 minutes, you know, let ‘em rest a bit. Then, put the batteries back in, but start with the transmitter first, then the clock. Like you’re wakin’ up the chickens, gotta start with the rooster, right?
If that don’t work, and you got one of them clocks that plugs into the wall, well, unplug it. Take out that little round battery at the bottom too, the backup one. Wait a minute, count to sixty slow, then put the battery back in and plug it back in the wall. Sometimes it just needs a good kick in the pants to get goin’ again.
Now, where you put that outside thingy matters too. Don’t stick it behind the shed or under a pile of junk. It needs to be out in the open, not too far from the clock. And those walls and metal stuff, they mess with the signal. Like tryin’ to yell across a crowded marketplace, nobody can hear ya.
If it still ain’t workin’, try pairin’ it up again. It’s like introducin’ two strangers, gotta make sure they know each other. Your clock’s manual, that little booklet that comes with it, should tell you how to do it. But if you lost it, like I always do with my readin’ glasses, you might have to go online and find it.
- Check the batteries: Make sure they ain’t dead. Nothin’ works right with dead batteries.
- Restart everything: Like I said, take out the batteries, wait a bit, and put ‘em back in.
- Clear the path: Make sure nothin’s blockin’ the signal between the clock and the outside thingy.
- Re-sync ‘em: Get those two gadgets talkin’ to each other again.
And sometimes, if your clock shows somethin’ like “Er” or some other gibberish where the outside temperature should be, that means the clock’s seein’ the outside thingy, but it ain’t gettin’ the temperature. That’s when you might need to re-sync it, or maybe somethin’s wrong with the outside thingy itself.
Another thing, if your clock ain’t showin’ both inside and outside temperatures, make sure the outside one is showin’ up on the clock’s little screen first. If it ain’t there, the clock ain’t gonna project it either. It’s like tryin’ to pour water from an empty pitcher.
And for those fancy clocks that change colors, well, they work the same way, just with more blinky lights. The color ain’t got nothin’ to do with the temperature readin’, it’s just for show, like a peacock struttin’ its feathers.

Now, if you got one of them atomic clocks, the ones that set themselves, well, that’s a whole ‘nother story. But usually, if the time’s right, the temperature part should work the same. And if the hands on your atomic clock are spinnin’ around like a whirligig, well, you got bigger problems than just the outside temperature. You might need to call in a professional for that one.
And lastly, make sure the clock itself is turned on. Sounds silly, I know, but sometimes it’s the simple things you forget. There’s usually a button on the back, and check that dimmer thing too, sometimes it makes the screen go all dark.
So, there you have it. A whole bunch of stuff about gettin’ that outside temperature to show up on your projector clock. It ain’t rocket science, just gotta fiddle with it a bit. And if all else fails, well, you can always just open the window and stick your head out. That’s what I do half the time anyways.
