Okay, so I’ve been repotting some of my plants lately, and I always have this question in my mind: should I water them right after? I decided to do a little experiment with two of my snake plants to figure this out.
Getting Started
First, I gathered my materials. I had:

- Two snake plants that were ready for bigger pots
- Two new pots (slightly larger than the old ones)
- Potting mix (the kind that drains well)
- My trusty watering can
The Repotting Process
I took the first snake plant out of its old pot. The roots were a bit crowded, so it was definitely time for a change. I gently loosened the roots with my fingers, being careful not to break too many.
Then, I put a layer of fresh potting mix in the new pot. I placed the snake plant in, making sure it was centered, and filled the pot with more soil, leaving a little space at the top.
I repeated all process above with the second snake plant
The Watering Experiment
Here’s where I are the experiment begin. I watered the first repotted snake plant thoroughly, making sure the water drained out of the bottom. But my mind has question about whether I should do, then I decided to water the second on some day later
Observations and Results
Over the next few days, I watched both plants closely. Honestly, I didn’t see a huge difference. I just keep watering the first one at a regular schedule.
I watered the second snake plant two day later, it seems has no difference. They both seemed pretty happy. Maybe it is not a big deal for snake plant.
My Conclusion (for Snake Plants, at least!)
Based on my little experiment, I’d say it probably doesn’t matter too much if you water a snake plant immediately after repotting or wait a bit. Just don’t let it stay dry for too long, snake plant are also need some water. They’re pretty tough plants, I guess!

I will keep my eyes on my plants.
