Alright, let’s talk about keepin’ them trees healthy, yeah? Bugs and stuff, they like to eat on trees, just like we like to eat on a good meal. But we gotta stop ’em, or else no more trees, no more fruits, nothin’. So, we gotta use some… what do you call ‘em…pesticides, that’s it!
First thing’s first, gotta know what kinda bugs you got. You know, like them little green ones, aphids they call ‘em, or maybe them spider mites, tiny little fellers but they do a whole lotta damage. Look close at your leaves, if they got spots or holes, or they look all chewed up, you got bugs. Gotta figure out what kind they are before you go sprayin’ just anything.

Now, some folks, they like to use them natural sprays. I heard tell of garlic spray, you just smash up some garlic and mix it with water. Smells strong, but it might just keep them bugs away. Chili pepper spray too, make it real hot and spicy for them little critters. Peppermint and that other stuff, eu… eu… eucalyptus, they say that works too. Smells good anyways. And cedar oil, keeps them bugs far far away.
- Garlic spray: Smash garlic, mix with water, spray on trees.
- Chili pepper spray: Hot peppers, water, spray it on.
- Peppermint oil: Mix with water, spray.
- Eucalyptus oil: Same thing, mix and spray.
- Cedar oil: Mix and spray.
But sometimes, them natural things, they ain’t strong enough. Then you gotta go for the stronger stuff. They got this copper stuff, copper sulfate, stops the trees from gettin’ sick. You gotta use it before the flowers come out, or else you won’t have any fruits to eat, you know, like them peaches and apples. Each tree is different, so you gotta learn what to do for each one.
Then there’s them systemic thingamajigs, systemic insecticides they call ‘em. Fancy word, but it just means the tree sucks it up and then the bugs eat the tree and get sick. Poison, that’s what it is. But you gotta be careful with that stuff, you don’t want to get it on yourself or nothin’.
The bug killin’ fellers, they use stuff like py-re-thrins, per-meth-rin, and bi-fen-thrin. Long words, I know, but they kill them spiders and spider mites real good. Makes them bugs all shaky and then they die. They also use some other chemicals for them other bugs, like them beetles and caterpillars. But like I said, gotta be careful, it’s all poison.
So, you see, keepin’ trees healthy ain’t so easy. You gotta watch ‘em close, figure out what bugs are botherin’ ‘em, and then pick the right stuff to kill ‘em. Natural stuff first, if that don’t work, then you gotta go for the stronger stuff. Just remember, be careful, read the directions, and don’t go sprayin’ everything willy-nilly. You don’t want to hurt the trees or yourselves.
And one last thing, if you ain’t sure what to do, ask somebody who knows. Don’t just guess, you might mess things up. There’s folks at the store, or maybe your neighbor, somebody knows somethin’ about trees and bugs. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, that’s what I always say.
Protecting your trees ain’t just about sprayin’ stuff, though. It’s about keepin’ them healthy in the first place. Good soil, enough water, that’s important too. A healthy tree can fight off bugs better than a weak one. So, take care of your trees, and they’ll take care of you. Give them what they need, and they’ll give you fruits and shade and pretty things to look at. And that’s all there is to it.
