Choosing the Right One
I did some looking around and saw that there are a bunch of different metal watering cans. There’s galvanized steel, stainless steel, and even aluminum ones. I learned that steel is pretty common because it’s tough and doesn’t rust easily. That sounded good to me, even though it might be a little heavier than other materials.
Putting It to Use
I got myself a galvanized steel watering can, and I’ve been using it for a while now. It’s definitely heavier than my old plastic one, but I don’t mind. I like that it feels solid and sturdy. I’ve been using it to water all my plants, both indoors and outdoors. It’s been great for my smaller plants, giving them just the right amount of water.
The Downsides
But I have to admit, it’s not always the most convenient thing. When I have a lot of plants to water, I find myself having to refill it a lot. That can take up some time, especially when I’m in a hurry. Also, it’s not ideal for my bigger plants. It just doesn’t hold enough water for them, so I end up having to make multiple trips to the tap.
Overall Thoughts
Even with those little drawbacks, I’m pretty happy with my metal watering can. It’s definitely going to last me a long time, and I feel good knowing it’s not going to end up in a landfill anytime soon. I think if you have mostly smaller plants and you don’t mind a little extra weight, a metal watering can is a solid choice. But if you have a lot of big plants or you’re always short on time, you might want to consider something else, maybe a hose or something.
