Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to make some leaf gloves for a while, you know, the kind that looks like you’ve got actual leaves for hands? I finally got around to trying it out, and it was… an experience. Let me tell you all about it.
Gathering the Goods
First things first, I needed leaves. Lots of ’em. I went for a walk in the park and just started picking up any leaves that looked big enough and weren’t totally dried out. I aimed for ones that were still a little bendy, figured they’d be easier to work with. I ended up with a whole shopping bag full.

Back home, I grabbed a pair of those cheap, stretchy gloves – the kind you can get at the dollar store. I also got some glue. I thought regular school glue might work, but then I worried it wouldn’t be strong enough, so I went with some craft glue that said it was good for fabric and stuff.
The Sticky Situation
This is where things got messy. I started by laying out the gloves and trying to arrange the leaves on them. My idea was to overlap them, kind of like scales, starting from the fingertips and working my way down. Sounds simple, right? Nope.
The leaves kept curling up, and the glue was getting everywhere. My fingers were sticking together, the leaves were sticking to the table, it was a total mess. I quickly realized that applying glue directly to the leaves was a bad idea.
So, I switched tactics. I started putting a little dab of glue on the glove itself, then pressing the leaf onto it. This worked a little better, but it was still slow going. And some of the leaves just wouldn’t stay put, no matter how much glue I used.
Patience, Patience…
It took forever, but I finally managed to cover one glove. It looked… okay. Definitely not as cool as I’d imagined. Some of the leaves were sticking out at weird angles, and there were some gaps where you could see the glove underneath. But hey, it was a first attempt.
I decided to let the first glove dry completely before I even attempted the second one. I figured maybe the glue would hold better once it was set. Plus, I needed a break from the sticky mess.
The (Almost) Finished Product
After a few hours, the first glove was dry. I carefully put it on, and… it was pretty stiff. The leaves didn’t really bend with my fingers, so it felt kind of awkward. But, it did kind of resemble a leafy hand, so I guess that’s something.

I then started making the other glove with no difference in procedure but with more patience.
Eventually I finished, the second glove, honestly, looked a little better than the first. I guess I got the hang of it a bit. I wouldn’t say they’re exactly wearable, but they’re definitely a conversation starter. Maybe I’ll try again sometime, with different leaves or maybe even a different kind of glue. For now, I’m calling it a (somewhat successful) experiment.
