Need a Skyjack Scissor Lift? Find the Best Deals Here!

Alright, so I had this project where I needed to get up high to do some work on a building. I’m not a huge fan of heights, but hey, gotta get the job done, right? So, I rented this thing called a Skyjack scissor lift. Never used one before, but it looked pretty straightforward.

Getting Started

First thing, I had to go pick up the lift. It was at this rental place a bit out of town. They showed me the basics – how to drive it, how to raise and lower the platform, and all the safety stuff. I made sure to pay close attention to the safety instructions, wearing a hardhat. You know, just in case.

Figuring it Out

Getting it to the job site was a bit of a chore. It’s not exactly a speed demon, this thing. But once I got it there, I parked it on a nice, level surface. That’s key, they told me. Don’t want this thing tipping over! Then, I put on the harness they gave me. It felt a bit silly at first, but it’s better than falling, I guess. I attached the lanyard to the anchor point on the platform.

Up, Up, and Away

Next up, I hopped on the platform and started playing with the controls. It’s pretty simple, really. There’s a joystick to move it forward and backward, and buttons to raise and lower the platform. I practiced a few times, going up just a little bit to get a feel for it. No sudden movements, that is for sure!

  • Slow and steady, up.
  • A little to right.
  • Stop.

Once I felt comfortable, I started raising the platform to where I needed to work. It was a bit wobbly, which was a little unnerving at first, but I got used to it. I made sure to keep my movements slow and deliberate. No jerking around up there!

Getting the Job Done

With the platform in position, I could finally get to work. It was so much easier than using a ladder, I gotta say. I had plenty of room to move around and all my tools were right there with me. I felt pretty secure up there, even though it was pretty high.

Wrapping Up

When I was finished, I carefully lowered the platform back down. Took it slow, just like going up. Once I was back on solid ground, I packed up the lift and got it ready to go back to the rental place. I Cleaned it down to.

All in all, it was a pretty good experience. I was nervous at first, but the Skyjack scissor lift was actually pretty easy to use. Definitely made the job a lot easier and safer, I felt in control the whole time. Would I use one again? Absolutely.
