Okay, so I wanted to try out this “razor back forward step shovel lhsp” thing I saw online. It looked pretty cool, and I figured I could use a new move in my routine.
First, I watched a bunch of videos to get a general idea. I’m a visual learner, so seeing it done repeatedly helped me understand the mechanics. I probably spent a good hour just watching different people do it.

Next, I cleared out some space in my backyard. I didn’t want to accidentally kick anything (or anyone!) while flailing around. I moved the patio furniture and made sure the grass was relatively clear of sticks and stones.
Then came the practice attempts. Oh boy, were there a lot of fails at first!
- I started with just the “razor” part, trying to get that leg swing down. It felt awkward, and I kept losing my balance.
- Then I added the “back” motion, and it was even trickier. My coordination was all off, and I stumbled a few times.
- Next I added the “forward”,it was difficult to control the strength.
- The “step” was surprisingly hard to integrate smoothly. I kept tripping over my own feet.
- Adding “shovel” into the * felt so weird.
I kept at it, though. I’d try a few reps, then watch another video to see if I could spot what I was doing wrong. I adjusted my stance, my arm position, the way I shifted my weight – everything. Slowly but surely, it started to feel a little less awkward.
After what felt like a million tries, I finally managed to do it! It wasn’t pretty, and it definitely wasn’t smooth, but I did it. And the “lhsp”,means Left-hand support position.I felt a little thrill of accomplishment, even though I knew I had a long way to go before I could really nail it.
I practiced some more, trying to smooth out the transitions and get a better flow. I’m still working on it, but it’s definitely getting better. It’s a fun challenge, and I’m excited to keep improving.
