Okay, so yesterday I finally got around to messing with that gardening tool with 3 prongs thingy. You know, the one I saw at the store and thought, “Hey, that looks kinda useful!”
First things first, I grabbed it and headed out to my sad excuse for a garden. The soil there is always rock hard, like concrete. I wanted to see if this thing could actually break it up a bit.

I started poking around with the 3 prongs. Honestly, at first, it didn’t seem like much. I was pushing down, trying to twist it, but it just kinda bounced off the surface. I thought, “Great, another useless tool.”
But then I figured, maybe I’m not doing it right. So I tried a different approach. Instead of just pushing straight down, I started rocking it back and forth while applying pressure. That seemed to work a little better. The prongs started to dig in, breaking up the soil in small chunks.
Here’s what I learned: You gotta use a bit of force, but not too much. And the rocking motion is key. It helps the prongs get a better grip. It’s like trying to start a stubborn screw – you gotta wiggle it a bit.
After about an hour of messing around, I actually managed to loosen up a decent-sized patch of soil. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely better than before. I could actually stick my fingers into the dirt without feeling like I was gonna break a nail.
The good:
- It did break up the soil, eventually.
- It’s small and easy to handle.
- Seems pretty sturdy.
The not-so-good:
- It takes some effort. Don’t expect it to magically till your entire garden.
- It’s not gonna work on super-compacted soil. You might need something heavier-duty for that.
Overall, I’d say it’s a decent little tool for small gardens or for spot-treating problem areas. I’m gonna keep using it to see if it helps with weeding and aerating the soil around my plants.

I also tried using it to mix in some compost. That worked pretty well. The prongs helped to break up the clumps and mix it evenly into the soil. That’s definitely a plus.
So yeah, that’s my experience with the gardening tool with 3 prongs. Not a game-changer, but definitely a useful addition to my collection. I’ll keep you updated on how it goes! Maybe next time I’ll try it on a REALLY tough patch of soil and see if it can handle the challenge.
