So, I needed a watering can, and I figured a 1-quart size would be perfect for my indoor plants. I didn’t want anything fancy, just something functional and not hideous.
First, I checked the local hardware store. They had a bunch of options, but most were either too big, too flimsy, or just plain ugly. I mean, who needs a watering can shaped like a frog? Not me.

Then I hit up a few garden centers. Same story, really. Lots of plastic, lots of weird designs, and nothing that really grabbed me. I was starting to think I was being too picky, but hey, I wanted something I wouldn’t mind looking at every day.
Next, I decided to browse online. This opened up a whole new world of possibilities, but also a whole new world of scrolling. There were so many choices! I narrowed it down by filtering for “1 quart” and “metal” (because I was tired of the cheap plastic ones).
I finally found a few that looked promising. Simple, classic design, and made of galvanized steel. I read some reviews, compared prices, and finally settled on one that seemed like a good balance of quality and affordability.
I placed the order and a few days later, it arrived. I unboxed it, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Not too heavy, easy to fill, and the spout was just the right size for precise watering. No more accidental overwatering!
My Watering Routine
- I fill the can with room-temperature water.
- I water my plants slowly, making sure to get the soil evenly moist.
- I avoid getting water on the leaves of plants that are sensitive to that.
- I empty out any water by pouring out any water that’s left.
It’s such a small thing, but having a decent watering can actually makes watering my plants feel less like a chore. Plus, it looks pretty good sitting on my windowsill. Mission accomplished!
