So, the other day I was messing around with my drone, trying to get it to follow a specific path for some aerial shots. I remembered this thing called “navigator” in some robotics stuff, figured I’d give it a shot. This whole “pesticide” thing, I think it’s just part of the name, maybe related to some agricultural use case, I don’t know.
Figuring Out the Basics
First thing I did was try to understand what this navigator thing even is. I poked around some forums, and it seemed like it was some kind of controller to make the drone do, move as planed. It will go to the points you set.

Getting It Installed
Next up, I try to installed navigator. I find it and installed it.
Setting Up My Path
Now for the fun part – actually telling the drone where to go. I opened up the navigator interface. I set some waypoints. Just like dropping pins on a * know, I started with a simple square, just to see if it would work.
Testing and Tweaking
I saved my path, and it was time for a test flight. I fired up the drone, connected it to the navigator, and hit “go.” The drone zipped off! It followed the square pretty well, but it was a little jerky. So, back to the interface I went. I added a few more waypoints to smooth out the corners. The drone is getting smart now!
Making It More Complex
Once I was happy with the basic square, I got a little more ambitious. I set up a path that went around my backyard, over some trees, and back to the starting point. It took a few tries to get the heights just right, so it wouldn’t crash into anything, but eventually, it worked! It’s cool. My drone flied all by itself!
What I Learned
- This navigator thing is pretty powerful. I can see how it could be used for all sorts of things, not just drones.
- It takes some trial and error. Don’t expect to get it perfect on the first try.
- Start simple. Get the basics working before you try anything too crazy.
Overall, I’m pretty stoked about this. I can already think of a bunch of cool shots I want to get with my drone now that I can program its flight path. It’s like having my own little automated aerial cameraman!
