Monstera Outside Temperature Guide: Simple Tips to Keep Your Plant Happy Outdoors!

Okay, here is the blog post about my experience with my monstera plant and the outside temperature:

So, I’ve got this monstera, right? It’s a pretty big guy, and I usually keep it indoors. But with summer here, I thought, why not let it enjoy some fresh air? I live in an area that’s not quite zone 10 or 11, more like a 9, so I did a little reading.

Apparently, these plants are cool with temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. They don’t like it when it gets too cold, especially freezing, which makes sense. I mean, who likes to freeze?

First, I checked the weather forecast for the week. No sudden cold snaps expected, mostly sunny, with temperatures hovering around 70-75 degrees. Perfect!

Then I found a nice, shady spot on my patio. I read that these plants don’t like too much direct sunlight, which I can relate to, I’m not a big fan of scorching sun myself.

  • Moved the monstera outside in the morning.
  • Watered it thoroughly. I figured it might get thirstier outside.
  • Checked on it throughout the day. Just to make sure it wasn’t getting too much sun or drying out.

It seemed to be doing pretty well. The leaves looked healthy, and it even seemed to perk up a bit. But the real test came at night.

The temperature dipped to around 60 degrees, which was the lower limit of what these plants like. I got a little worried, but it seemed to handle it okay.

After a few days of this, I decided to bring it back inside at night, just to be safe. I didn’t want to push my luck. My area can have some unpredictable temperature swings at night, and I didn’t want my monstera to get stressed out.

Overall, it was a good experience. The monstera seemed to enjoy its time outside, and it didn’t suffer any ill effects. I’ll probably do it again, but I’ll keep a close eye on the temperature and bring it in if it gets too chilly. And I will definitely keep an eye on the humidity level. They love humidity, so I made sure to mist it regularly. It’s like giving it a little spa treatment!
