Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Monstera plant, the one with them big ol’ leaves. Looks fancy, but lemme tell ya, it ain’t always easy keepin’ it healthy. Just like us, them plants get sick too. And when they do, it ain’t pretty.
One thing I see a lot is the leaves turnin’ yellow. Yellow leaves ain’t a good sign, no sirree. It could be a few things. Maybe you’re waterin’ it too much. Plants don’t like their feet wet all the time, you know. Or maybe you ain’t waterin’ it enough! It’s a tricky business, this plant stuff. Gotta find that happy medium, just like with everything else in life.

And the pot! That pot’s gotta have holes in the bottom, so the water can drain out. If the water sits there, the roots gonna rot. And then you’re in real trouble. Root rot, that’s a bad one. You’ll see the leaves droopin’ and lookin’ all sad. Sometimes they even get brown and crispy.
Then there’s them spots. Leaf spots, they call ’em. Little brown or black spots, sometimes with a yellow ring around ’em. That’s usually some kinda plant sickness, like a…bacteria or somethin’. They got medicine for it, just like we do. You can get it at the store, the plant store that is, not the people store. Stuff ain’t expensive, and it works pretty good. Just spray it on the leaves, and it should help.
Now, if the whole leaf turns yellow, and it’s kinda soft and mushy, that’s likely more than just a water problem. Could be somethin’ worse. Like I said, the roots might be rottin’. Or maybe it’s got some kinda…what-do-ya-call-it…fungus thing goin’ on. You gotta dig it up and look at the roots, see if they’re brown and slimy. If they are, you gotta cut off the bad parts and replant it in fresh dirt. And make sure that pot drains, I’m telling ya!
Sometimes, the leaves just curl up at the edges. That could be from bein’ too dry, or maybe too much sun. These plants, they like bright light, but not too much direct sun. Kinda like me, I like the sun, but I gotta wear my hat! You gotta find the right spot for it in your house, where it gets enough light but ain’t gonna get scorched.
- Too much water: Yellow leaves, mushy stems, root rot.
- Too little water: Yellow leaves, crispy edges, wilting.
- Leaf spots: Brown or black spots with yellow halos. Bacteria or fungus.
- Root rot: Yellowing, wilting, mushy stems, brown and slimy roots.
- Leaf curling: Too much sun, too dry, or pests.
And don’t forget them little bugs. Pests, that’s what they are. Sometimes you can see ’em, sometimes you can’t. But they’ll chew on the leaves and make ’em look all sickly. You can use that plant medicine for them too, or sometimes just washin’ the leaves with soapy water will do the trick. Just plain ol’ soap, nothin’ fancy.
Keepin’ a Monstera healthy ain’t rocket science, but you gotta pay attention. Look at the leaves, feel the soil, and make sure it’s got what it needs. Water, light, and good dirt. And if it gets sick, don’t panic. There’s usually somethin’ you can do to fix it. And remember, a happy Monstera got them deep green, shiny leaves. If they look like that, you’re doin’ alright.
So, that’s the long and short of it. Take care of your plant, and it’ll take care of you, makin’ your house look nice and green. But don’t fuss over it too much, you know? Just give it what it needs and let it do its thing.

Prevention is always better than curin’, you know. So, keep your eyes peeled for any trouble, and if you spot a problem, fix it quick!
One more thing, don’t forget to give it some food every now and then. Plant food, that is. Helps it grow big and strong. Just follow the directions on the package, you don’t want to overdo it.
Well, I reckon that’s about all I know about keepin’ them Monstera plants healthy. Hope it helps ya out some.
