Okay, so I’ve been growing this money tree plant for a while now, and things were going great, you know? It was thriving, looking all lush and green. But then, out of nowhere, some weird stuff started happening. I noticed these spots on the leaves, and they weren’t there before. Started freaking out a little, not gonna lie.
First thing I did was grab my phone and start snapping pictures. Gotta document this stuff, right? Then, I hit up the internet, trying to figure out what was going on. I typed in “money tree plant diseases” and started scrolling through a ton of websites and forums. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. There’s so much information out there.

My Money Tree’s Problem
- Leaf Spots: These were the most obvious things. Brown, kind of circular, and they were spreading. Some leaves were even turning yellow and falling off.
- Root Rot: I read that this could be a problem, so I gently took the plant out of its pot to check the roots. Some of them looked kinda mushy and dark, which isn’t a good sign.
- Weird Growth: The new leaves that were coming in looked a bit deformed and weak. Not the healthy, vibrant green I was used to.
After looking at a bunch of pictures and reading descriptions, I started to narrow it down. It looked like my plant might have a combination of fungal leaf spot disease and root rot. Probably overwatered it, my bad.
So, I took action. I carefully trimmed off all the leaves with spots using some clean scissors. Then, I repotted the plant in fresh, well-draining soil, making sure to get rid of as much of the old, soggy soil as possible. I also trimmed away any of the mushy roots I found.
Now, it’s a waiting game. I’m being super careful with the watering, letting the soil dry out a bit more between waterings. I also moved the plant to a spot with better air circulation, hoping that will help prevent future fungal issues.
It’s been a few weeks, and I’m starting to see some new growth that looks healthier. Fingers crossed, I think I caught it in time. It’s definitely been a learning experience, though. Plants can be tricky, but it’s rewarding when you figure out how to help them thrive again. I’ll keep an eye on it and hopefully, it will be back to its old self soon. Keep ya posted!
