Metal Watering Cans: Where to Buy and What to Look For!

Hey folks, it’s your boy back at it again. Today, I’m gonna tell you about my little adventure with metal watering cans. It all started when my old plastic watering can gave up the ghost. It served me well, but it was time for an upgrade. I figured, why not go for something that’ll last me a good long while? So, I set my sights on a metal watering can.

First, I started browsing around, looking at all the different kinds out there. Some were these fancy stainless steel jobs, all shiny and modern-looking. Others had that classic, galvanized steel look, like the ones my grandpa used to use. There were even a few made of aluminum, which I guess would be pretty light.

Metal Watering Cans: Where to Buy and What to Look For!

I saw a few that caught my eye, especially one that said “Modern Style Stainless Steel” and cost around 33 bucks. It looked sleek, but I wasn’t sure if it was the right fit for me. Then I came across another one, a “Behrens Weatherproof Hot Dipped Galvanized Steel” can with wooden handles. That one seemed pretty solid and had that old-school vibe I kinda liked.

My Search Continued

I also checked out some other places. They had all sorts of sizes, from 1 to 5 gallons. I didn’t need anything too big, so I was looking at the smaller ones, around 1.5 to 2.3 gallons. GroundWork had a few options that were priced okay, around 15 bucks for a 2.3-gallon can. I mean, that’s not too bad, right?

After digging around a bit more, I decided to go with a galvanized steel one. It’s supposed to be tough, rust-resistant, and perfect for using indoors or outdoors. Plus, it just looked like it could handle anything I threw at it. I ended up ordering one with a removable spout, which I thought would be handy for different plants.

Putting it to the Test

When it finally arrived, I was pretty stoked. I filled it up and gave my plants a good watering. It felt solid in my hand, not too heavy, but definitely sturdy. The water flowed out nicely, and the spout was easy to control. I even tried removing the spout to water some larger pots, and it worked like a charm.

Final Thoughts

So, after using it for a while, I gotta say, I’m happy with my choice. This metal watering can is definitely a step up from my old plastic one. It’s tough, it looks good, and it gets the job done. I’ve got a feeling this thing is gonna last me for years. Plus, it’s kind of cool to have something that feels a bit more traditional and durable. I also feel that it would be a great purchase if I were on a limited budget. It can be repaired and repurposed.

  • Pros:
  • Super durable
  • Looks great
  • Works like a charm
  • Long-lasting

If you’re in the market for a new watering can, I’d definitely recommend checking out the metal ones. They might cost a bit more upfront, but they’re worth it in the long run. And hey, it’s always nice to have something that’s built to last, right?

That’s it for my watering can adventure, folks. Hope you enjoyed it. Until next time, keep those plants happy and hydrated!
