Alright, let’s talk about my little project – the indoor plant care kit! So, it all started because I kept killing my succulents. Seriously, those things are supposed to be unkillable, right? Wrong! I figured I needed to get serious about this whole plant-parent thing, so I decided to put together a kit to help me (and maybe you!) keep our green friends alive.
First thing I did was research. I mean, really dive into what different indoor plants need. Sunlight, water, humidity, soil type – the whole shebang. I spent a good couple of evenings just reading articles and watching YouTube videos. My eyes were practically glued to the screen!

Then came the shopping. This was the fun part! I hit up my local garden center and grabbed a few essentials:
- A good quality potting mix – not just any old dirt!
- A moisture meter – to stop me from overwatering (my biggest problem).
- A small watering can – because my kitchen pitcher was NOT cutting it.
- Plant food – gotta keep those leaves green and vibrant.
- A spray bottle – for misting those humidity-loving plants.
Next up, the organization. I didn’t want all this stuff just scattered around, so I found a cute little basket to keep everything in. It sits right next to my plant shelf, so it’s always within easy reach. I even added a little label to the basket so I wouldn’t forget what’s inside.
Okay, so here’s where the rubber meets the road – putting it all to use! I started by repotting a couple of my succulents with the new potting mix. Then, I used the moisture meter to check the soil before watering. It was a game-changer! No more guessing! I gave them a good watering with the new watering can, and then a little spritz with the spray bottle.
I’ve been using the kit for a couple of weeks now, and I’m already seeing a difference! My plants look healthier, happier, and… well, alive! Even my formerly sad-looking fern is starting to perk up. I even started documenting everything in a small notebook. Watering schedules, fertilizer dates, any changes I notice – it’s all in there. That way, I can track what’s working and what’s not.
Honestly, putting together this indoor plant care kit was one of the best things I’ve done for my plants. It’s made taking care of them so much easier and more enjoyable. And who knows, maybe I’ll even graduate from succulent-killer to plant whisperer one day!
