Okay, here is my blog post about making indoor fern stands:
So, I started this project because I have a lot of ferns, you know? And I really wanted a nice way to display them indoors. I looked around for some ready-made stands, but they were all either too expensive or just not my style. That’s when I decided, “Hey, I can make these myself!”
First, I went to my local hardware store and grabbed some basic lumber. Nothing fancy, just some pine boards. I also picked up some wood glue, screws, and a few different colors of wood stain. I had this idea in my head of having stands of different heights, so I made sure to get wood cut into various lengths.
Getting to Work
- I started by cutting the wood down to the sizes I needed.
- Then I sanded down all the edges to make sure everything was nice and smooth. No splinters here!
- Next, I took the wood glue and started assembling the bases. I decided to go with simple square bases, nothing too complicated.
- Once the bases were done, I moved on to the legs. I attached them to the bases using screws, making sure everything was sturdy and stable. I didn’t want any wobbly stands!
After the stands were assembled, it was time for the fun part: staining! I chose a few different shades of brown and even a dark gray. I wanted each stand to have its own unique look. I applied the stain with a brush, making sure to get into all the nooks and crannies. And boy, did they turn out beautiful! The stain really brought out the grain of the wood.
Finally, I let the stands dry overnight. Once they were completely dry, I placed my ferns on them, and wow! They looked amazing. I arranged them around my living room, and it instantly brightened up the whole space. It’s incredible what a few pieces of wood and some stain can do, right?
This project was so much fun, and I’m really proud of how the fern stands turned out. They added that perfect touch of greenery to my home. And the best part? I made them with my own two hands! I may not be a carpenter but I’m feeling pretty darn good about these. If you’re looking for a way to display your plants, I highly recommend giving this a try. It’s easier than you might think!
