Okay, so, a few days ago, I decided to get myself a silver watering can. I’d heard they’re pretty good for gardening, and since I’m trying to spruce up my backyard, I thought, why not?
First off, I went to Tom Nook’s store and bought this silver watering can. It cost me around 500 bells. Not too bad, I guess. Once I got it, I added it to my inventory. Then, I selected the “grab” option and put it in my character’s hands.

Now, I had some flowers and a couple of new trees I’d planted earlier. To use the watering can, I just faced the plant and pressed the ‘A’ button. You can also just touch your character on the screen if you’re using a touchscreen. Pretty straightforward, right?
One thing I learned, which wasn’t super clear at first, is that you don’t need to fill it up with water or anything. I was a little confused, but you just right-click over the plants you want to water. There’s no animation for the watering, which is why I thought I was doing something wrong. Turns out, that’s just how it is.
I also found out that if you hold down the action button, the watering can covers a bigger area. So, I started doing that to water more plants at once. It’s a neat little trick that saves some time.
I was also reading online and saw someone mention using a diagram to water efficiently. They suggested standing in the middle of a group of flowers to water the ones in front and behind at the same time. I tried it out, and it works pretty well. You can cover a five-tile plus shape area if you position yourself right.
Tips

Overall, using the silver watering can is easier than I thought. It’s a handy tool for any gardener, and I’m glad I added it to my collection. No more dry plants for me!
