How to Choose a Monstera Plant Stand: Simple Guide for Beginners
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to do something with my big monstera plant for a while now. It’s gotten pretty huge, and the leaves were kind of sprawling all over the place. I saw some people online talking about using stands or poles to help these plants grow upward instead of outward, and I thought, “Yeah, that’s exactly what I need!”

First, I did some digging around to see what kind of support would be best. I read that monstera plants, especially the deliciosa kind like mine, really like having something to climb on. They’re kind of like vines in the wild, I guess. Some folks used moss poles, which look cool, but I also saw bamboo stakes and even PVC pipes. Since I’m not super handy, I figured a simple bamboo stake would be the easiest way to go.

So, I went out and bought a few bamboo stakes from the garden store. They were pretty cheap, which was nice. Getting them into the pot was a little tricky, though. My monstera’s roots are pretty well-established, and I didn’t want to damage them. I carefully pushed the stake down into the soil, close to the main stem of the plant, wiggling it a bit to make space.

Once the stake was in, I started gently tying the monstera’s stems to it. I used some soft plant ties I found online so I wouldn’t hurt the plant. I didn’t tie them too tight, just enough to give some support. It was kind of like guiding the plant where I wanted it to go.

Here’s what I did:

  • Got a bamboo stake: Seemed like the easiest and cheapest option.
  • Carefully inserted it into the pot: Didn’t want to mess up the roots!
  • Tied the stems to the stake: Used soft ties, nothing too tight.

It’s been a few weeks now, and I can already see a difference! My monstera is definitely looking more upright and less like it’s trying to take over the whole room. The leaves are reaching up towards the light, and it just looks so much healthier and happier. I’ve noticed some new leaves coming in, and they seem to be bigger and have more of those cool splits in them. I think giving it that extra support really helped. This was my first time when I started to grow monstera plants, the leaves are deep green, firm, and big. I am so happy!

Honestly, this was way easier than I thought it would be. If you’ve got a monstera that’s getting a bit wild, I definitely recommend trying a plant stand. It’s a simple thing, but it can make a big difference in how your plant looks and grows. Just remember to be gentle with the roots and don’t tie the stems too tight. Happy planting!
