Okay, so I needed a new watering can, and I figured a 2-gallon one would be perfect. Not too heavy, but still holds enough water to get a decent amount done without a million refills. I’ve been meaning to be more diligent about watering my plants, instead of just waiting for a huge downpour, you know?
First, I checked out the local hardware store. Just browsed around, nothing fancy. I picked up a few, felt the weight, imagined them full of water. Some felt really flimsy, like they’d crack after a season or two. Others had weird spouts that looked like they’d dribble everywhere.

The Shopping Process
- First Stop: Big Box Hardware Store. Lots of options, but mostly cheap plastic.
- Second Stop: Smaller, local garden center. Better quality, but higher prices.
- Third Stop: Online. Finally find one I love.
I ended up going to a smaller garden center nearby. They had a few that were a bit sturdier, made of thicker plastic. The prices were a little higher, but I figured it was worth it for something that would last. Still, I wasn’t totally sold. One had a nice rose head (the sprinkle part), but the handle felt awkward.
Finally, I decided that I just look on the internet. I spent probably an hour just scrolling, reading reviews. Found a nice green can, in the size and price I was expecting. It have a detachable rose head, and the reviews said it was pretty durable. Perfect!
I ordered one of the cans, I really liked it. I put it together (it was just attaching the spout). Filled it up with water to test out. The balance felt good, even when it was full. The rose head gave a nice, even spray – not too strong, not too weak. Just right for my thirsty plants.
I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and I’m really happy with it. My plants are definitely looking healthier, and I’m not dreading watering day anymore. It’s such a simple thing, but having the right tool for the job makes a big difference!
