So, the other day I got to thinking about my plants, you know? Winter’s coming, and I was wondering if I should still be feeding them. I mean, they’re not really growing much when it’s cold, right? But then I remembered reading somewhere that even in winter, plants need a little somethin’ somethin’ to stay healthy. So, I decided to do a little experiment.
First, I gathered up all my plants. I’ve got a bunch of different kinds—some leafy greens, some flowering ones, a few succulents. I wanted to see how they’d all react to a little winter snack.

Next, I went to the garden store and picked up some fertilizer. It said “all-purpose, 10-10-10” on the label. I figured that sounded good, since it’s got equal parts of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. I also got a bottle of that liquid fertilizer, the fast-acting kind. I thought it would be fun to see if it worked faster than the regular stuff.
Then came the fun part—feeding time! I started with my outdoor plants. I sprinkled some of the 10-10-10 fertilizer around the base of my shrubs and trees. It was a bit chilly, but I wanted to get it done before the ground froze solid. I figured the fertilizer needed time to soak down to the roots and all that.
After that, I moved on to my indoor plants. I mixed up some of the liquid fertilizer with water, following the instructions on the bottle. Then I carefully watered each plant, making sure not to overdo it. I didn’t want to drown them, you know?
Now, I’m just waiting to see what happens. I’m gonna keep an eye on all my plants over the next few weeks and see if they look any different. Maybe they’ll perk up a bit, even though it’s winter. Or maybe they won’t change much at all. Either way, it’s been a fun little experiment. It’s always cool to learn new things about taking care of plants, right?
I’ll keep you guys posted on how my plants are doing. Maybe I’ll even take some before-and-after pics. Who knows, maybe this winter feeding thing will turn out to be a game-changer for my little green buddies!
- Gathered all my plants to see how different types would react to winter feeding.
- Bought all-purpose 10-10-10 fertilizer and fast-acting liquid fertilizer.
- Fertilized outdoor plants before the ground froze.
- Watered indoor plants with a liquid fertilizer mix.
- Now observing the plants to see if the fertilizer makes a difference.
Results will be observed
I am excitedly observing the plants, and will share any changes.
