Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with these herb shears lately, the ones with like five blades stacked together. Yeah, you heard that right, five! Thought I’d share my little adventure with them.
First off, I got these shears online. They are green, and they came with a little comb thingy and a cover for the blades. Pretty standard stuff.

Getting Started
The first thing I did was grab a bunch of fresh basil from my garden. I love growing my own herbs, you know? It is the best. Anyway, I took these leaves and gave them a good wash. I used these herb scissors to cut the basil.
- Washing the Herbs: Just rinsed them under the tap, nothing fancy.
- Lining Them Up: I tried to stack the basil leaves neatly. I wanted to see if these scissors could handle a decent bunch at once.
- First Snip: Here we go, the moment of truth. I squeezed the handles and…whoosh! It went right through them like butter.
Chopping Action
So, these five blades, they’re not messing around. They are sharp, like really sharp. I also used it to cut some chives. The blades sliced through the chives like a hot knife through butter. They sliced through the basil super clean. Each snip gave me a bunch of evenly cut pieces. I gotta say, it felt pretty satisfying to see all those little bits pile up. Way faster than chopping with a knife, that’s for sure. I even tried them on some parsley, same result.
- Clean Cuts: Every piece was cut nice and clean. No ragged edges or anything.
- Speedy: I finished chopping in like half the time it usually takes me.
Cleaning Up
Now, here’s where it got a bit tricky. Cleaning these scissors is kinda pain. Food safety and all that, you know? That little comb thingy that came with the scissors helped a bit. But honestly, I was there for a while, trying to get all the tiny bits of basil and chives out from between the blades.
- Comb Time: I used the comb, and it did an okay job, but it is not perfect.
- Water Rinse: After combing, I rinsed the blades under running water, hoping to flush out whatever was left.
Final Thoughts
Alright, so after using these herb shears a few times, I’ve got mixed feelings. They’re awesome for chopping, no doubt. Super fast, clean cuts, and they feel pretty solid in your hand. But that cleaning part…ugh. It is a hassle. If you are only using them for herbs and stuff, it is not a huge deal, I guess. But still, it is something to keep in mind.
Would I recommend them? Yeah, probably. Especially if you’re like me and use a lot of fresh herbs. Just be prepared to spend some quality time cleaning them afterward. They are a great gift if you have a friend who is growing their own herbs. Maybe I will give my friend one of these. Overall, they are a cool little gadget. They are not perfect, but they definitely make herb chopping a lot easier.
If you have tried these scissors, let me know what you think. I’d love to hear if you’ve found a better way to clean them!
