Okay, so I’ve been getting into cooking lately, and fresh herbs are a game-changer, right? But chopping them up with a regular knife? What a pain! They end up all bruised and sad-looking. So, I saw these things called herb scissors online and thought, “Hey, might as well give ’em a shot.”
I went ahead and ordered a pair – nothing fancy, just some basic ones. They arrived a couple of days later. They looked kinda weird, I gotta say, with like five blades stacked together. My first thought was, “How the heck is this gonna work?”

Anyway, I had some fresh parsley that needed chopping for a pasta sauce I was making. I grabbed the herb scissors and started snipping away. Honestly, it felt a bit awkward at first. Getting used to the multiple blades took a minute, and I was worried I’d end up with uneven pieces.
But I kept at it, and you know what? It actually got easier. I found that if I held the scissors at a slight angle and used a quick, confident motion, I could get a pretty decent chop. It wasn’t perfect, mind you, but way better than my usual mangled mess with a knife.

It was a bit clunky. I definitely need more practice to get a fine, even chop.
I tried them on some chives, and those worked like a charm. Maybe it’s better for thinner herbs.
This is where it got a bit tricky. Bits of herbs got stuck between the blades. Luckily, the scissors came with a little cleaning comb, which helped, but it was still a bit of a chore.
So, are herb scissors worth it? I’d say they’re pretty cool for quickly chopping up small amounts of herbs, especially if you’re like me and tend to crush them with a knife. It’s especially handy when cutting a small amount of herbs right over the pot. But if you had to cut a lot of herbs, then yes, it is still handy. They definitely make things faster, but you do sacrifice a bit of control compared to a good, sharp knife. Plus, the cleaning can be a little annoying. Overall, I’m happy I got them, and I think I’ll get better with practice. They’re not a must-have, but they’re a fun little gadget to have in the kitchen if you’re into fresh herbs.
Would I recommend them? Yeah, why not. If you’re on the fence, I’d say go for it. Just don’t expect miracles, and be prepared to spend a little extra time cleaning up. They do save time on the chopping, though, so that’s a plus! I guess you can find lots of different kinds of herb scissors out there. For example, there are brands like BELLE VOUS, SHAN ZU, and many others. I haven’t tried them all, of course. But anyway, you can choose one that suits you.
