Help! My Stromanthe Triostar Soil is Bad. How to Choose the Right Potting Mix
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Hey everyone, today I wanna talk about my recent adventure with my Stromanthe Triostar and what I did with the soil. I’ve been growing this beauty for a while now, and let me tell you, getting the soil right is super important!

So, first off, I noticed my Triostar wasn’t really thriving. Leaves were looking a bit sad, and it just wasn’t as vibrant as I knew it could be. I did some digging around (pun intended!), and realized the soil it was in was just too dense. It was holding onto water like a sponge, and that’s a big no-no for these plants. They hate having wet feet!

Help! My Stromanthe Triostar Soil is Bad. How to Choose the Right Potting Mix

I decided to take action. I went and got some new potting mix. After doing some looking into, I went and got some peat moss, perlite, and a bag of just regular old organic matter. I wanted to make sure I had a good balance. The peat moss is great for holding onto just the right amount of water. Perlite is awesome because it keeps things airy and prevents the soil from getting all compacted.

Here’s what I did: I mixed up a batch of soil. I didn’t really measure anything precisely, just eyeballed it. I started with about one part peat moss, then added in a bit less than one part perlite, and threw in a good handful of the organic stuff. Mixed it all up until it looked nice and fluffy.

  • Repotting time! I gently took my Triostar out of its old pot.
  • Brushed off as much of that old, dense soil as I could from the roots.
  • Placed it into a new pot with the fresh soil mix.
  • Gave it a good watering to help settle the soil.

After repotting, I watched my Triostar like a hawk. And guess what? It started perking up! The leaves started looking healthier, more colorful, and it just seemed happier overall.

Honestly, it was such a relief to see my plant doing better. It just goes to show, the right soil can make all the difference. Now my Triostar is thriving, and I’m so glad I took the time to figure out what it needed.

So, if you’re growing a Stromanthe Triostar, make sure you’re giving it soil that drains well and doesn’t stay soggy. Your plant will thank you for it!
