Okay, so I’ve been trying to get my lawn in seriously good shape this year. You know, the kind of green that makes the neighbors jealous. I did some digging around and kept seeing people talking about Andersons golf course fertilizer, specifically “The Andersons Professional PGF Complete 16-4-8 Fertilizer with 7% Humic DG”. Figured I’d give it a shot.
Getting Started
First thing I did was actually read the instructions on the bag. Sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people just wing it. I wanted to make sure I was applying it right, especially since this stuff is supposedly “professional grade.”

The Application Process
I used my trusty old spreader. I checked if calibration was done, my spreader settings were off. So I had to spend a bit of time recalibrating. Get a bucket, weigh out the fertilizer, do a test run on a measured area, and adjust the setting until I was getting the right amount per square foot according to the bag’s directions.
Once the spreader was dialed in, I loaded it up with the Andersons fertilizer. Started doing passes back and forth across my lawn, making sure to overlap slightly to avoid any missed spots or stripes.
Watering It In
The instructions said to water it in after application, so I gave the lawn a good soaking. I did this fairly soon after applying because I didn’t want the fertilizer to just sit there and potentially burn the grass.
- Waited a day before mowing.
- Didn’t want to pick up the fertilizer before.
- It had a chance to work into the soil.
Waiting Game…and Results!
Now comes the hard part: waiting. It’s only been a couple of weeks, but I’m already starting to see a difference. The grass definitely looks greener and healthier. It’s not a miracle overnight transformation, but it’s a noticeable improvement. I’m excited to see how it looks in another few weeks. I’ll probably do another application later in the season, following the instructions on the bag, of course!
So far, I’m pretty happy with the Andersons golf fertilizer. It seems like good stuff, and the application process was straightforward, even if calibrating my spreader took some time. I’m no lawn expert, but if you’re looking to step up your lawn game, it might be worth checking out.
