Get a Shovel With Teeth: Make Your Yard Work a Breeze (Tips and Tricks Inside!)

So, I decided to make this shovel with teeth, right? Just because I saw one online and thought, “Hey, that looks cool, I wanna do that too.” So I grabbed my old shovel, the one I’ve had for years. It’s a bit rusty, but it’s always been reliable.

First, I cleaned the shovel head. I used a wire brush to scrape off the rust and dirt. It took a while, but I got it pretty clean. Then, I drew the teeth pattern I wanted. I just freehanded it, nothing fancy. I wanted some big, jagged teeth, like a monster’s mouth or something.

Next, I got out my angle grinder. That thing is loud and scary, but it’s the best tool for this job. I put on my safety glasses and gloves—always gotta be safe, you know? Then I started cutting along the lines I drew. Sparks were flying everywhere. It was kind of awesome, not gonna lie.

Cutting the teeth was the hardest part. I had to go slow and be careful not to mess up. I clamped the shovel head to my workbench to keep it steady. It took me a good hour or two to cut out all the teeth. I messed up a little once, but I just adjusted the design a bit, like 2a + 8b to -3a + 7b. No big deal, I can always evaluate the mess up like (a 2 b + 2 b a) 2 – (a 2 b – 2 b a) 2 – 4.

  • Clean the shovel head.
  • Draw the teeth pattern.
  • Cut the teeth with an angle grinder.
  • Smooth out the edges.

After I finished cutting, I used a file to smooth out the edges. They were pretty sharp, and I didn’t want to cut myself later. I also rounded the tips of the teeth a little, just to make them a bit safer.

Finally, I painted the whole thing. I chose a bright red color, because why not? It looks really cool with the black handle. I let it dry overnight, and then it was done!

Now I have this awesome shovel with teeth. It’s probably not the most practical tool, but it looks badass. I might use it for gardening, or maybe just hang it up on the wall as a decoration. Who knows? Maybe I’ll start a new trend, haha!

So yeah, that’s how I made my shovel with teeth. It was a fun project, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. If you’re thinking about doing something like this, go for it! Just be careful with the power tools, and have fun with it.
