So, I’d been hearing whispers about this place, Flowerpot Bay Lodge. Just bits and pieces, someone mentioning it was out of the way, quiet. Sounded like something I needed. Life gets noisy, you know? Decided right then, I’m going. Packed a small bag, didn’t make a big fuss about it.
Getting there took a bit of effort. Had to drive partway, then catch a small ferry or water taxi, something like that. The boat ride was alright, actually. Just sat there, watched the waves, didn’t really think about much. It felt good to be moving towards somewhere different, leaving the usual routine behind for a few days.

Stepped off the boat and there it was. The lodge wasn’t huge or fancy. Looked sturdy, like it belonged there. The bay itself was the main attraction, I guess. Calm water, trees around the edge. It felt pretty secluded, which was the whole point. First impression? Yeah, this might work.
What I Did There
Didn’t have a big plan. Mostly just walked. Explored the shoreline quite a bit. Found those rock formations people talk about, the ones that look vaguely like flowerpots. They were interesting enough to look at for a while. Took some pictures, but mostly just soaked it in. Spent a lot of time sitting near the water, just watching things. Birds, the odd boat going past way out.
There wasn’t much else to do, really. Which suited me fine. Read a book I’d brought. Didn’t talk to many people. Saw other guests, nodded hello, but mostly kept to myself. It was that kind of place. Everyone seemed to be there for the peace and quiet.
Evenings were simple. Watched the sunset over the bay a couple of times. It gets dark out there, proper dark. Stars were amazing on a clear night. Haven’t seen stars like that in ages.
So, About the Lodge Itself
The room they gave me was basic. Nothing special, but it was clean. Had a bed, a small bathroom. The shower had decent pressure, which is always a plus in my book. Didn’t spend much time in the room anyway, other than sleeping. It served its purpose, a place to crash.
Food situation: They had a small dining area. Ate there a few times. Food was okay, pretty straightforward stuff. Filled me up. Wasn’t expecting gourmet meals or anything. Staff were pleasant enough, seemed used to people just wanting to be left alone mostly. Got what I needed when I asked.
Overall, Flowerpot Bay Lodge delivered on the quiet front. It’s not a place for excitement or nightlife, obviously. It’s rough around the edges in a comfortable sort of way. If you genuinely want to disconnect and just be somewhere peaceful for a bit, it does the trick. Was it life-changing? Nah. But it was a solid break, gave me a chance to recharge the batteries. Sometimes that’s all you need.
