Okay, so I’ve been wanting to add some color to my garden, and I’ve always loved the look of purple flowering plants. I figured, why not give it a shot and document the whole process? Here’s how it went down.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out what to plant. I did a little digging around, you know, just looking at pictures online and seeing what caught my eye. I ended up picking a few different types, just to mix things up a bit:
- Lavender: Classic choice, right? Smells amazing, too.
- Salvia: I liked the spiky look of these.
- Petunias: Heard these were pretty easy to take care of.
- Verbena: The ones grow like crazy.
Prep Work
Next up, I had to get my hands dirty, literally. I went to the local garden store and grabbed some potting soil, fertilizer, and some basic gardening tools. I made sure I had pots for a few of my new plants. and the area in my garden where I wanted to plant the rest.
I cleared out the space in the garden, pulled out any weeds, and loosened up the soil.
Planting Time!
This was the fun part! I carefully followed the instructions. Some went into pots, others directly into the ground. Made sure to give them enough space between each other, you know, so they wouldn’t be fighting for sunlight and water. I am really excited about how the pots turned out!
Watering and Waiting
After planting, I gave everything a good watering. Now, the hardest part: waiting. I made sure to water them regularly, especially since it’s been pretty hot lately. I also added some fertilizer every now and then, just to give them a little boost.
Seeing Results
It took a few weeks, but I finally started seeing some progress! Little buds started appearing, and then, bam! The first purple flowers started popping up. It was such a cool feeling, seeing all that hard work pay off.
Keeping it Going
I’m still in the process of watching and the purple is just a small part of the whole garden. There is a whole lot of work keeping weeds out and checking for any bugs or anything that might eat my plants. I’ve also learned that some plants need more sun than others, so I’ve had to move a few things around. It’s all a learning experience, but it’s been super rewarding.
I think everyone should start a garden. It’s easy, and it is so satisfying.
