Flower Liquid Fertilizer: How to Use It? (Simple Guide for Beginners)

Okay, let’s talk about making your own flower liquid fertilizer. It’s way easier than you might think, and your flowers will totally thank you for it. I started doing this a few months ago, and I can’t believe the difference it’s made.

First off, I gathered all my kitchen scraps, you know, like banana peels, eggshells, and coffee grounds. I also collected some weeds from my garden, but you can also use grass clippings. Just make sure whatever you use is free of pesticides and diseases, because you don’t want to harm your flowers.

Flower Liquid Fertilizer: How to Use It? (Simple Guide for Beginners)

Next, I took these scraps and chopped them up a bit, not too fine, just enough to help them break down faster. Then, I tossed them into a big bucket and added water, making sure everything was submerged. I also threw in a little bit of old compost to kickstart the process. I covered the bucket with a lid, but not too tightly, because you want some air to get in there.

Then came the waiting game. I put the bucket in a sunny spot and let it sit for about two weeks. Every couple of days, I’d go out there and give it a good stir. It started to smell a bit funky, but that’s normal. That means it’s working! After a couple of weeks, the liquid turned into a dark brown color, which is what you’re looking for.

Once it was ready, I strained the liquid using an old t-shirt. You can use cheesecloth or anything similar. This gets rid of all the big chunks. Then I stored the liquid in some old bottles.

How I Use It

Using this homemade fertilizer is super simple. I dilute it with water, usually about one part fertilizer to ten parts water. You don’t want to use it full strength because it can burn your plants. Then, I just water my flowers with this mix, like I normally would. I do this about once every two weeks during the growing season.

  • Gathered kitchen scraps and yard waste.
  • Chopped them up and put them in a bucket with water.
  • Added old compost and covered loosely.
  • Stirred every few days for two weeks.
  • Strained the liquid and stored it.
  • Diluted with water and watered my flowers.

Honestly, since I started using this, my flowers have been blooming like crazy. They’re bigger, brighter, and just look so much healthier. Plus, it’s a great way to recycle kitchen scraps and yard waste, so it’s good for the environment too. It’s a win-win!

Give it a try, and you’ll see what I mean. It’s a cheap and easy way to give your flowers a little extra love, and they’ll definitely show their appreciation.
