Five blade scissors for herbs: What are they used for and where can I buy one?

So, I’ve been wanting to up my cooking game lately, and dealing with fresh herbs has always been a bit of a pain. Chopping them up with a knife just takes forever, you know? Then, I saw these weird-looking scissors with a whole bunch of blades, five to be exact, advertised as “herb scissors”. I thought, “What the heck, let’s give these a shot.”

I ordered a pair online, and when they arrived, I was kinda surprised at how they looked. Five blades! It seemed like overkill, but hey, I was committed now. The first thing I tried them on was some fresh parsley I picked up from the grocery store. I held the scissors over my cutting board, took a bunch of parsley, and started snipping.

  • First off, these things are kinda awkward to hold at first. You gotta get used to the way the five blades move together. It’s not like regular scissors.
  • But once I got the hang of it, man, was it fast! I chopped up that whole bunch of parsley in, like, seconds. Way faster than I could have with a knife.

I’ve used them on other herbs too – chives, cilantro, basil. They work pretty great for all of them. But I did notice something, it’s really not that easy to clean between all those blades, so I’ve decided only to use these scissors for small herbs and green leafy stuff to avoid any nasty stuff.

One more thing I should mention, and it’s kind of a bummer, but these blades, they are made from cold-stamped metal, I learned that the good-quality scissors use hot forged metal, so you can’t really sharpen them. So, I guess I’ll just have to see how long they last.

The handles are pretty comfy, though, they are made with non-slip stuff, so that’s a plus. You can get a good grip, which is important when you’re wielding a multi-bladed instrument of herb destruction!

All in all, I’m pretty happy with these five-blade herb scissors. They definitely save me time in the kitchen, especially when I’m just cooking for myself and need to chop up a small amount of herbs. But If I am going to cut a large amount of herbs, I will consider whether to use them.

Would I recommend them? Yeah, I think so. If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to chop up your herbs, these are worth checking out. Just remember about the cleaning part and that they might not last forever.
