Today, I wanted to do something different, something that’s been on my to-do list for a while. I saw these five blade scissors online and thought, “Why not give it a try?” They looked pretty cool, and I was curious if they could actually make my life easier.
First, I ordered the scissors online. The anticipation was killing me. I kept checking the tracking info every day, and when they finally arrived, I tore open the package like a kid on Christmas morning. They looked even better in person than in the pictures. Shiny, a bit heavy, and with those five sharp blades, they seemed ready for some serious action.

I decided to test them out on some herbs. I grabbed a bunch of chives from my fridge, washed them, and laid them out on my cutting board. Now, here’s where I messed up a bit. I tried to use these scissors just like my regular ones, chopping away from the base of the blades to the tip. Big mistake. The chives just kind of bunched up and got stuck between the blades. It was a mess.
Took a step back, cleaned the scissors, and thought, “There’s gotta be a better way.” I remembered seeing someone use a similar gadget online, and they were kind of sliding the blades through the herbs instead of chopping. So, I tried that. I held the chives firmly, positioned the scissors at the tips of the leaves, and gently slid the blades down.
It worked like a charm! The chives were sliced into perfect, tiny pieces, all uniform and pretty. It was so much faster than using a knife or even regular scissors. I was seriously impressed. I then tried it on some other herbs – parsley, cilantro, even some basil. Same result. Perfectly sliced, no fuss.
My Little Experiment
- Gathered some different types of paper: regular printer paper, some construction paper, and even some thin cardboard.
- Started with the printer paper. One snip, and it sliced through like butter. Five clean cuts at once.
- Moved on to the construction paper. A little more resistance, but still, it cut through without much effort.
- Tried the cardboard. Okay, this was a bit tougher. I had to use a bit more force, but it still cut through. Not as clean as the paper, but it did the job.
These five blade scissors are definitely a keeper. They’re not just for herbs, and they can handle different materials. They’re a bit of a novelty, sure, but they actually work. And they make me feel like a bit of a kitchen ninja, which is always a plus. Just remember, slide, don’t chop!
