My old eyes ain’t what they used to be, but I sure do love me some plants. Not them fancy ones, just regular, good ol’ plants that don’t need no fussin’ over. Now, you might be thinkin’, “What kind of plants can an old gal like me keep alive?” Well, let me tell ya, there’s plenty! We call ’em medium light plants. They’re the kinda plants that don’t need to be sittin’ right in the sun all day long. Just a little bit of light is all they ask for.

You see, my house, it ain’t got them great big windows like some folks got. It’s more cozy-like. But that don’t mean I can’t have no greenery! These medium light plants, they do just fine with the light we get. They ain’t picky, like some of them fancy flowers I’ve seen. No sir, these are good, sturdy plants.

One of ’em I really like is called a, uh… African violet, I think? It’s got these fuzzy little leaves and pretty little flowers. Now, I hear some folks say these are tricky, but mine do just fine. They just want a bit of light, not too much, or they get all droopy. Kinda like me on a hot summer day, ha! Just don’t put ’em in direct sun, and they are good! I got a couple of these. They like it in the kitchen window. That way, I see ’em when I’m doin’ my dishes.

  • African Violet: They’re small, only get about, what, 9 inches high, I reckon? And they got these tiny little flowers, pretty things.

Then there’s another one, called a… a monster, I think? Sounds scary, don’t it? But it ain’t! It’s just a big ol’ plant with these big leaves, all holey and such. In the wild, they say this one grows up trees, all the way high, it would be good for climbing. Now, I don’t let mine grow that big, of course, but this plant, it can be very big. This medium light plant is good in the corner, where it’s not too bright. It is green and pretty.

  • Monstera: I know the name sounds strange, but it’s a pretty plant! This one is from the jungle, they say.

Another one that don’t mind my kinda light is somethin’ called a… begonia, I believe? It’s got pretty flowers, too. Different colors, even. And the leaves, they’re all different shapes and sizes. It’s a real showy plant, even without a whole lot of sun. A real good medium light plant if you want somethin’ colorful. It’s a good one, this begonia. This plant likes to grow, and the flowers are pretty.

  • Begonia: They got all kinds of these, I hear. Different colors, different leaves. Pretty, pretty flowers on ’em, too.

Now, these ain’t the only medium light plants out there. There’s lots more! But these are some of my favorites. They’re easy to take care of, don’t need a whole lot of fuss, and they make my old house look a little brighter.

I keep ’em watered, of course. But not too much! Just enough to keep the dirt from gettin’ all dry and dusty. And I talk to ’em, too. Don’t laugh! I think it helps ’em grow. Maybe they like the company, you know? Just like an old woman like me likes a little company now and then.

These plants, they’re more than just somethin’ pretty to look at. They make the air feel cleaner, you know? And they make me feel good, just havin’ somethin’ green and alive around. It’s like havin’ a little piece of the outside right here in my house. Even my old cat, Mittens, seems to like ’em. She likes to sit by the window and watch ’em sway in the breeze.

So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ some plants, but you ain’t got a whole lot of sun in your place, don’t you worry. These medium light plants will do just fine. They’re tough, they’re pretty, and they’re easy to care for. Just like me! I’m gettin’ old, but I’m still kickin’! These plants do need a little light, but not too much, and they will grow.

So you go on and get yourself some plants! You won’t regret it. They’ll brighten up your home and your life, just like they did mine. And if an old gal like me can keep ’em alive, I bet you can too! Just remember what I said: not too much sun, not too much water, and a little bit of love. That’s all these medium light plants need to be happy. And a happy plant makes a happy home, that’s what I always say.

You don’t need a green thumb to have a nice indoor garden, not when you have plants like these. You can have some pretty things to look at inside and they will be just fine. Those medium light plants are good for inside the house. They are good plants. They make me happy, I like to look at them and I like to see them grow. It is a good thing, to have plants in the house.
