Ficus Audrey Standard vs Fiddle Leaf Fig: Which Is Best?

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to add a Ficus Audrey to my plant collection for a while now. I finally decided to do it, and I’m going to share my whole process, from picking it out to getting it settled in my home.

Finding the Perfect Ficus Audrey

First, I visited several local nurseries. I wanted to see the plants in person, rather than ordering online. I felt like I could better assess their health that way. I looked at a bunch, checking the leaves for any signs of pests or disease – you know, the usual stuff like brown spots or weird webbing.

Ficus Audrey Standard vs Fiddle Leaf Fig: Which Is Best?

I finally found one that looked really healthy. It had vibrant green leaves, and there were no signs of anything creepy crawly. It was a good size, too – not too big, not too small. It was a standard ficus.

Getting it Home and Prepped

I carefully transported the plant home, making sure it wouldn’t get jostled around too much in the car. I get home. Once I got it inside, I grabbed a slightly larger pot than the one it came in, some well-draining potting mix, and my trusty watering can.

The Repotting Process

  • First, I gently removed the Ficus Audrey from its original pot. I loosened the roots a bit, just to encourage them to spread out in the new pot.
  • I added a layer of the potting mix to the bottom of the new pot.
  • Then, I carefully placed the plant in the center and filled the rest of the pot with soil, making sure not to bury the stem too deep.
  • I gently tapped on the sides of the pot and patted soil.
  • Finally, I gave it a good watering, letting the water drain out of the bottom.

Finding the Perfect Spot

Now for the important part – finding the right location. I know Ficus Audreys like bright, indirect light, so I placed it near a window that gets plenty of light, but not direct sun. I also made sure it was away from any drafts or heating vents, as they can be sensitive to temperature changes.

Ongoing Care and Observations

I’ve been watering it when the top inch or so of soil feels dry. And I will mist the air.

So far, my Ficus Audrey seems to be doing great! I’m really happy with how it looks, and I’m excited to watch it grow. It’s definitely a beautiful addition to my indoor jungle. It’s all my experience.
