Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try this whole “personalized salon experience” thing for a while. I saw this phrase, “engraved scissors salon,” and it just sounded so… fancy. I figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, how different could it really be?
First, I needed to, you know, actually find a place that did this. It wasn’t as easy as I thought. I searched for hours. I found nothing.

But…I still wanted to try,so I decided to do it by myself.
So, I went and bought a pair of regular hair-cutting scissors. Nothing special, just the ones from the drugstore. Then, the tricky part: the engraving. I definitely didn’t have any fancy engraving tools lying around. I ended up using this tiny, pointed metal thingy I found in my toolbox – I think it’s for poking holes in leather or something? No idea, really.
I tried to etch my initials onto the scissors. Let me tell you, it was hard. The metal was slippery, and my “tool” kept slipping. It took forever, and my hand started cramping up. I probably spent a good hour just trying to get a barely-visible “JS” on one of the blades. It looked…rough. Really rough. Like, a toddler did it with a rock kind of rough.
But hey, they were “engraved,” right? Time for the “salon” part.
I decided to just give myself a little trim. I figured, how much damage could I really do? (Famous last words, I know). I dampened my hair, sectioned it off – all the stuff I’d seen in YouTube tutorials. Then, I started snipping with my newly “personalized” scissors.
The cutting…wasn’t great. I’m not sure if it was the scissors themselves, my questionable engraving job, or just my complete lack of skill, but it felt…jagged. Like I was tearing the hair instead of cutting it cleanly.
When I was done, I looked in the mirror. My hair was…uneven. Very uneven. And there were these weird, choppy bits sticking out at all angles. It definitely didn’t look like a “salon” experience. It looked like I’d gotten into a fight with a lawnmower…and lost.

The Results:
- Engraving: 2/10. Looked terrible, took forever, and probably ruined the scissors.
- Cutting: 3/10. Uneven, choppy, and generally a disaster.
- Overall Experience: 4/10. I mean, I did technically engrave scissors and cut my hair. But it wasn’t pretty.
So, my “engraved scissors salon” experiment? Not a resounding success. I think I’ll stick to regular salons – and professionals – from now on. My hair (and my ego) will thank me.
