Okay, so I needed a new watering can, and I decided to go big or go home. I wanted something that could hold a decent amount of water so I wouldn’t have to keep refilling it every five minutes. I ended up grabbing a 2-gallon plastic watering can, and here’s how it went down.
The Hunt
First, I hit up a couple of local stores. You know, the usual hardware places and garden centers. I figured I’d find a basic, no-frills watering can, no problem. I saw a few smaller ones, but I was committed to the 2-gallon size.

Making the Choice
After a bit of looking around, I found a sturdy-looking 2-gallon plastic one. It was bright blue, which isn’t my favorite, but hey, it’s a watering can. Who cares, right? The important thing was that it felt solid, not flimsy. I gave it a good shake and a squeeze to make sure it wouldn’t crack or anything.
Putting It to the Test
Back home, I filled that bad boy up. It held the water no problem, no leaks. It’s definitely heavier than my old, smaller watering can, but I expected that. Two gallons of water is, you know, two gallons of water!
- Pros:
- Holds a lot of water.
- Seems pretty durable.
- The spout gives a nice, even flow.
- Cons:
- It’s a little bulky, but that comes with the territory.
- The color is, well, very blue.
Watering the Garden
I took it out to the garden and started watering. It was great! I could water way more plants before having to go back to the hose. The pour was nice and steady, not too fast, not too slow, just good. No splashing or anything, easy to manage, good flow.
The Verdict
So far, so good! This 2-gallon plastic watering can is a winner. It’s simple, it works, and it saves me a bunch of trips back and forth. It is not rocket science but very easy to use. If you need to water a lot of plants, I recommend going with the bigger size. Just be prepared to lift a little extra weight!
