Okay, here’s my post about building some plant stands, keeping it casual and just walking through what I did:
So, I’ve been wanting to jazz up my place with some greenery, right? But just putting plants on the floor or whatever? Nah, I needed something a bit more, you know, elevated. Literally. I decided to make some designer plant stands. I mean, why not? I saw some online, but they were either way too expensive or just not my style.

First, I started looking around for ideas. I saw a bunch of those mid-century modern ones, you know, the wooden ones that hold just one plant. Those are cool, but I wanted something a bit different. I wanted to display my plants like art, and those single plant stands that sit low to the ground were not going to cut it. I wanted variety in dimension and material, and I also needed to think about how many plants I wanted to showcase.
Then I got to work. I grabbed some wood from the garage. I measured everything out, making sure to leave some room for the plants to grow, obviously. I decided on a taller stand for my cactus, it just felt right to have it standing tall. I even thought about using stone for one of them, but that seemed like a bit much for now, maybe next time.
- First, I sawed the wood. This part was a bit of a workout, not gonna lie.
- Then, sanded everything down so it was all smooth. Didn’t want any splinters on my plants!
- Next, I put it all together. Screws, glue, the whole nine yards. I’m no carpenter, but it was starting to look like something.
After assembling, I gave them a good coat of paint. I went with a simple white for most, but I did a funky green for one of them, just to mix it up. Let them dry overnight, ’cause patience is a virtue, or so they say.
Finally, the fun part – putting the plants on them! It really changed the whole vibe of the room. The greenery just pops now, and the different heights add a cool dynamic. I’m no expert, but I think they look pretty darn good.
So yeah, that’s my little plant stand adventure. It was fun, kinda therapeutic, and way cheaper than buying some fancy ones. Plus, I made them myself, which is always a good feeling. If you’re thinking about sprucing up your place with some plants, I’d say go for it. And hey, maybe try making your own stands, too. It’s easier than you think!
