Okay, so I’ve been getting into embroidery lately, and let me tell you, having the right tools makes a HUGE difference. I started out using these big, clunky scissors I had lying around the house – you know, the kind you use for everything? Yeah, big mistake.
It was a total mess. I was struggling to get close to the fabric, constantly snipping threads I didn’t mean to, and generally making my life harder than it needed to be. That’s when my friend, who’s a total embroidery pro, told me I needed to get some proper embroidery scissors.

Finding the Right Pair
So, I went down this rabbit hole of researching different types. There are SO many options!
- Tiny, curved blades: These seemed to be the most popular, promising super precise cuts.
- Sharp points: Essential for getting into those tight corners and snipping threads close to the fabric.
- Different handle shapes: Some were fancy, some were simple. I wasn’t sure what to go for.
I ended up ordering a pair online that had good reviews. They were small, with super sharp, curved blades and a simple, comfortable handle.
Putting Them to the Test
When they arrived, I was practically giddy. I immediately grabbed a project I was working on and started using them.
Oh. My. Goodness. It was like night and day! I could snip threads so close to the fabric without any fear of accidentally cutting something I shouldn’t. The curved blades were perfect for getting into those awkward spots, and the sharp points made everything so much easier.
I seriously couldn’t believe I’d been struggling with those other scissors for so long. My embroidery looked cleaner, my process was faster, and I was actually enjoying it more.

I even tried using them for a bit of cross-stitch, and they worked great for that too!
Finished the project, and I’m telling you, proper embroidery scissors are a game-changer. It’s one of those things you don’t realize you need until you have them, and then you can’t imagine going back.
