Okay, folks, let me tell you about my little adventure in gardening today. I’m trying to grow some cabbages, you see, and it’s been… well, let’s just say it’s been a learning experience.
My Cabbage Patch Woes
So, I started these cabbages from seeds a while back. Everything was going great, little sprouts popping up, looking all green and healthy. I was feeling pretty good about myself, thinking I had this gardening thing down.

But then… disaster! Or, well, maybe not disaster, but definitely a setback. I noticed some holes in the leaves. Tiny little holes at first, then bigger ones. And then I saw them – the culprits!
Identifying the Enemy
I spent a good chunk of the morning hunched over my cabbage plants, playing detective. Here’s what I found:
- Little green caterpillars: These guys were munching away like there was no tomorrow. I think they’re probably cabbage loopers or maybe imported cabbageworms. They’re sneaky little things, blending right in with the leaves.
- Tiny black bugs: I saw some small, black, fast-moving bugs. I was worried,I guess these are probably flea beetles.
- Slugs: slim bugs.I was so angry,I guess these are probably slugs.
- Yellow and spots: I also saw that some of the lower leaves were turning yellow and had some brownish spots.I guess maybe a disease.
What I Did About It
First, I picked off as many of those caterpillars as I could find. It was a bit tedious, but hey, gotta do what you gotta do. I squished them,I am so angry!
And I also found a few eggs,I tried to remove all of them.
Now, for the yellowing leaves, I’m not entirely sure what’s going on there. It could be a nutrient deficiency, or maybe some kind of fungal disease. So I’ll be keeping a close eye and taking more photos to track the situation.
Honestly, I’m learning as I go. My cabbages might not be perfect, but I’m determined to get at least a few good heads out of this!
