Okay, so I saw these “rounded safety scissors” trending, and I thought, “Why not give them a shot?” I mean, I’m always looking for ways to make crafting a bit safer, especially with the little ones around.
First, I went and got a pair. Nothing fancy, just a standard pair from the local store. They looked pretty much like regular scissors, except, of course, the tips were rounded instead of pointy.

My Little Experiment
- First try: Paper, obviously. I started cutting some construction paper, and they worked just fine. Smooth cuts, no jagged edges. No surprises there.
- Next up: Fabric. I had some scrap fabric lying around, so I tried cutting that. It took a bit more effort than with regular scissors, but they still did the job. The cut wasn’t super clean, but hey, they’re safety scissors.
- Getting ambitious: Cardboard. I found a thin cardboard box and tried cutting it. This was… tougher. I really had to press down hard, and the rounded tips made it a bit awkward to get a good grip and starting angle. I managed to cut it, but it wasn’t pretty.
Finally, I even tried them on some yarn. They snipped through it no problem, which was good. I can see these being useful for little knitting projects or something.
Overall, I’d say they’re pretty decent. They definitely feel safer than regular scissors, especially for kids. I wouldn’t use them for any heavy-duty cutting, but for basic crafts and stuff, they’re perfectly fine. I am glad I picked a pair to test out.
