Hey everyone, so I’ve been getting into botany lately, and let me tell you, having the right tools is a game-changer. I wanted to share my little journey of figuring out what works and what doesn’t in the garden.
First off, I started with the basics. I needed something to dig with, right? So, I got myself a spade. This thing is a lifesaver. I used it to dig holes for planting and to break up the soil. I made sure to keep a straight back when I used it, and it was pretty easy to use.

Next, I realized I needed something to deal with some thicker branches and roots. I remembered seeing an axe being used for this kind of thing, so I picked one up. It’s definitely got some history behind it, and it was perfect for chopping up some of the more stubborn stuff in the garden.
- I started digging with my spade.
- Used the axe to chop thicker stuff.
- The garden was looking better already!
But then, I realized I needed to be a bit more precise. I saw something called a crowbar, and it turned out to be super useful for digging smaller holes and dealing with stones. I could wedge it in and pry things loose that my spade couldn’t handle. I also got a pick-mattock, which was good for breaking up really hard soil. This one took a little more effort, but it did the job.
I also grabbed a bunch of other tools like a hoe for weeding, a shovel for moving the dirt around, a rake for smoothing things out, and a fork for turning the soil. Oh, and a trowel – perfect for transplanting seedlings.
- Used a crowbar for smaller holes and stones.
- The pick-mattock was great for the tough soil.
- A hoe, shovel, rake, fork, and trowel rounded out my collection.
Honestly, having all these tools made my gardening so much easier. I wasn’t struggling as much, and I could actually see my garden start to take shape. It was pretty satisfying, not gonna lie.
